Women?s Health is seeking a Director of Communications in its New York City office. This individual will lead the Women?s Health team and work with Corporate Management to create, develop and execute strategic communication plans that will support the brand?s multi-platforms, including the magazine, its website, mobile/digital initiatives, branded books, subscription websites and events.
This will also include supporting new launches and emerging platforms through both consumer and trade press. The magazine won an ASME award for General Excellence this year. This position reports to the Senior Director, Corporate Communications.
Responsibilities include: -Serve as key strategist for the brand on communications matters including long-term and monthly public relations outreach for consumer and trade media -Oversee all outreach for monthly issues including press releases, feature pitches and morning show opportunities -360-degree thinking as a marketing communications strategist, with strong conceptual and writing skills and ability to position brand effectively within the market -Oversee and manage department logistics for maximum efficiency?mailing list creation and maintenance, monthly mailings, file management, email blasting, project histories, booking guest travel -Create and manage event support around key brand franchises -Oversee the coordination of TV segments and print interviews inclusive of talking points, research, spokesperson preparation, and props, if needed -Some event publicity and travel

Ideal candidate will possess: -At least 6-7 years of related work experience, in-depth knowledge of media in order to recognize elements that can and should be publicized, and have demonstrated a record of success in increasingly responsible positions in the area of media relations; magazine and book publicity experience a must -Bachelor?s Degree in Journalism, English, Communications, Public Relations, Liberal Arts a plus -Strong relationships with key members of the media in various beats: television producers, print journalists, trade reporters, as well as key online/bloggers -High level of professionalism and the ability to work with all levels of the editorial and publishing staff -Working relationships with trade media -The ability to work in a fast-paced matrix structure and manage multiple activities simultaneously -Excellent writing skills -Interest in health and fitness a plus
