This looks pretty interesting but I have a few questions. What kind of time frame are we in? I don't care as much about so many years from 2000 but more in relation to the creation of this universal government and what sense of identity if any would parents of characters find in former nationality. Are several languages still spoken and would people still have regional accents? How do we refer to places for example would it be best to say Boston in what was once the US? These questions are probably too specific but I just want to be able to think through the character's history and background before being confined to the ship.
